Kidney Ultrasound
Ultrasound imaging can be used to look for stones, shrinkage, blood flow, swelling of the kidney or ureter, fluid build-up, and masses. Diabetes can cause problems with small blood vessels in the kidneys and lead to kidney failure. The kidneys are organs shaped like beans that filter blood. A renal ultrasound is done to check the size of the kidneys, look at nearby structures like the ureters and bladder, and find cysts, tumors, blockages, fluid build-up, kidney stones, or infections.
