Description

The echo ultrasound can detect problems with the heart such as hypertrophy (thickening if the walls), abnormalities in motion of the heart wall, heart valve abnormalities, blood flow direction, and enlarged arteries that branch off from the heart. It is also used to assess the ejection fraction or the squeezing of the heart to see if the heart is weak.
